Randall Meals

President and Chief Executive Officer

Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Randy had a broad and significant career as an executive, which includes serving as COO and VP of Business Development for Nishan Systems (acquired by McData), and GM and VP of 3Com's Advanced Products and Storage Networking Divisions. As COO of Omnipoint Corporation (now T-Mobile via merger) he was a member of the team of executives that took this company through its successful IPO. Additionally, Randy was GM of Hewlett Packard's Information Networks Division and the Business Unit Manager of NCR/AT&T's Open Networking Business Unit.

Randy's technology career began at NCR in Wichita, Kansas. Over a span of thirteen years he started as an individual contributor and progressed to hold management positions in R&D, Marketing, and Quality Assurance. He has received numerous awards including NCR's Chief Scientist Award for conceiving innovative technology for implementation of disk arrays.

Randy has an MBA from Wichita State, MS in Computer Science from Kansas State, and a BS in Computer Science from Iowa State. He is also an alumnus of the U.S. Naval Academy. He currently serves on the boards of Aristos Logic, Bay Microsystems, and Xceive, served on the board of Sierra Logic (acquired by Emulex), and is also responsible for managing Quicksilver's investments in Aperto, Cavium, and Minerva.

Gerry Jankauskas

Executive Vice President of Engineering and CTO

Executive Vice President of Engineering and CTO, Gerry has over 15 years of experience in networking systems and platform development as well as business development. Gerry is providing strategic direction, working with network equipment vendors and service providers in developing high performance, state of the art, solutions for Carrier, Service Provider and Enterprise networks. Prior to Bay, Gerry was Chief Architect at Cratos Networks where he built and marketed a Next Gen SONET/Data platform. Prior to Cratos, Gerry was Systems Architect at 3Com (U.S. Robotics) Carrier Systems Group developing leading edge access solutions and platforms for Service Providers and at GTE, Gerry performed systems and development engineering allowing commercial network equipment to be used for military applications. Gerry holds a BSEE and an MSEE from the University of New Hampshire.

Michael McDonald

Chief Financial Officer

Chief Financial Officer, Mike has over 25 years of public and private company corporate-level financial management experience in the semiconductor and RF/microwave electronics industries. Prior to Bay, he was VP of Finance, CFO and Secretary of Integrated Silicon Solutions, Inc. (ISSI), a publicly-owned fabless developer of high performance memory semiconductors. Prior to ISSI, Mike was Senior VP of Finance, CFO and Secretary of REMEC, Inc., a publicly-owned designer and manufacturer of RF/microwave frequency subsystems. Mike joined REMEC via REMEC's acquisition of privately-owned Magnum Microwave Corporation where he served as Magnum's Senior VP of Finance and CFO. Mike began his career at Watkins-Johnson Company as a financial analyst. Mike holds an MBA and a BS.

Tony Chiang

Sr. Vice President of Engineering

Founder and Sr. Vice President of Engineering, Tony has over two decades of Engineering and Engineering Management experience. He served as VP of VLSI Design Engineering at C-Cube. Prior to that, Tony was responsible for VLSI Design Engineering at Hitachi and AMD. Tony has a proven record of developing and bringing to market over 30 VLSI products and has extensive experience in designing complex, high performance and large-scale SoC products. Tony holds a BSEE, an MSEE and an MBA.

Robert Smedley

Vice President of Systems Engineering

Vice President of Systems Engineering, Bob has over 18 years experience in networking circuit, sub-system, and system design and development. He is leading our systems design and development team in Germantown, Maryland. Prior to Bay, Bob was the Director of Systems Engineering at Mantra Communications where he developed the hardware and software for chassis-based and desktop-based DSLAM and ATM switching systems. Prior to Mantra, Bob was the Director of Engineering at Excelan developing Ethernet switches with ATM and DSL uplinks. Prior to Excelan, he held various positions at Hughes Network Systems, IgT and Litton Industries. While at Hughes, Bob developed the system architecture of then, next generation ATM switching modules that included policing and traffic shaping per connection. In addition, he led the hardware and software development of ATM network interface modules, Frame Relay switches and Ethernet bridge/router modules. Bob holds a BSEE and an MSEE.

Man Trinh

Chief Architect

Founder and Chief Architect, Man has more than 12 years experience in the architecture, implementation and verification of three generations of pioneering network processors. He has been awarded several patents in the area of broadband networking. Man is largely responsible for the architecture of Bay's innovative Internetworking Processor™ product family. Prior to Bay, Man was principally involved with the architecture and implementation of the GigaBlade™ network accelerator product line for Softcom Microsystems. He was also instrumental in the verification effort of the SoftcomEngine™. Prior to that, Man was responsible for the design and debug of the ATMizer™ development platform at LSI Logic. He was also involved in the ATMizer II™ verification and validation. He holds a BSEE and an MSEE.

Ira Madnick

Vice President of Operations

Vice President of Operations, Ira has over 25 years of senior level operations management in contract manufacturing and telecommunications. His experience includes start-ups, turnarounds, and rapid growth companies. Prior to Bay, he was Director of Operations of ForeScout, a leader in network access control. Prior to ForeScout , Ira was a Director of Operations at Kagoor Networks, and has also served as Vice President of Operations for LifeClips, P-Com and Elexsys International Inc. Ira holds a MS in Management and a BA in Business Administration.
