Santa Clara, CA, Mar. 7, 2005 - Bay Microsystems, Inc., the market leader in high performance network processing solutions, will present a 90 minute network systems design seminar focused on the Technical Challenges of the Triple Play (Voice/Video/Data) Services Model on March 10, 2005 at the Embedded Systems Conference 2005 in San Francisco. The seminar will be presented by Chuck Gershman, president and CEO of Bay Microsystems. Loring Wirbel of CMP is moderating the 90 minute seminar, which begins at 8:30am.
Service providers are scrambling to grab an ever-increasing portion of the total subscriber dollar - currently divided amongst Cable Operators, Telcos, and Satellite Service Providers, each providing one or more forms of Internet Access, Telephony, and Video on Demand services. Recently, the race has begun to consolidate all of these services. Known as Triple-Play services, trial networks capable of delivery of a full suite of these services are now being deployed. This class describes the competing technologies employed, provides a Network Topology overview, and examines the demanding technical challenges presented by the convergence of these services. It explores the characteristics of a new class of Broadband Access Network Element responsible for the "Intelligence" behind Triple-Play convergence services and will further discuss how the latest class of Network Processors and Traffic Managers are being applied to provide high performance.
