Bay Microsystems to Demonstrate Wide Area Virtualization Solutions at NXTcomm2008

ABEx® Family of Multi-Service Transport Gateways Enable High–Performance, “Any to Any” Connectivity for Access/Edge Service Provider or Data Center Applications

SAN JOSE, Calif.,June 11, 2008 – Bay Microsystems, Inc., the world’s fastest growing network processor company, will showcase a multi-site Wide Area Virtualization solution at NXTcomm in Las Vegas, NV (booth #SL2612). The solution delivers unprecedented disaster recovery capabilities and operational flexibility between remote data centers separated by hundreds or thousands of miles. The demonstration will feature Bay Microsystems’ ABEx® Multi-Service Transport Gateway based upon the company’s innovative and patented Network Processing and Traffic Management mASIP (multiple Application Specific Instruction Set Processor) architecture .

Along with Bay Microsystems’ ABEx 2020, the demonstration features YottaYotta’s GSX 3000 geographic storage virtualization appliance. Together, the platforms enable High-Priority Vmotion of live applications between data centers and automated disaster recovery with VMware® ESX Server.

The ABEx product family delivers the performance, scalability and flexibility required to support today’s most demanding carrier and data center applications. The small footprint and low power consumption of Bay Microsystems’ family of feature-rich, high-performance Multi-Service Transport Gateways make them attractive appliances for both access/edge service provider and data center applications alike.

Bay Microsystems’ advanced multi-service transport gateway technology was recently featured in an important service provider trial in Japan. Softbank Telecom Corp. deployed the ABEx 2020 as the wide-area server and storage connectivity component for disaster recovery and high availability over its wide-area virtual infrastructure.

The company welcomes to the booth all who are interested in learning more about the smaller, faster and greener ABEx family, as well as the company’s mASIP silicon architecture and its inherent scalability to 100G and beyond.
