Chesapeake is the world's first programmable 40G Network Processor and Traffic Manager in a single-chip with performance to support 100G Ethernet.  For triple and quadruple play multimedia services, our processor exclusively features Multimedia Traffic Management (MTM).  MTM enhances profitability and improves control for service providers offering high quality user experiences over their converged voice, video, data and multimedia networks – because video matters.

Chesapeake ushers in a new era of network processing with a 40G network processor that guarantees line-rate performance.  Bay standardized the practice of integrating robust traffic management within its network processors, reducing overall system chip count. In addition, Chesapeake provides the lowest power per gigabit of any processor in its class, at 0.13W/G, enabling high density, low power and cost effective system designs.


Applications:

The current version of Chesapeake is targeted to system configurations ranging from high density 1G and 10G Metro Ethernet aggregation boxes to carrier grade 20G and 40G system solutions.  It is designed for applications including, but not limited to:

Lighthouse Tool Suite:

Lighthouse is a complete hardware and software development environment facilitating the design of next generation network equipment. Lighthouse includes both hardware and software tools required to accelerate network system solutions based upon Chesapeake. Lighthouse includes the following:
  • Hardware Development Environment (HDE) - This comprises of the BayPort demonstration and evaluation platform, evaluation boards and reference designs to accelerate the hardware design in a target environment.
  • Software Development Environment (SDE) - This comprises of the Simulator, Traffic Generator/Analyzer, IDE, Compiler, Debugger and NEXTware™ Software Suite to jump-start the software development process.
